The #legend connection with the stars of Squid Game
Jun 25, 2025
With the release of the third and final season of Squid Game upon us, David Ho takes a look back at the times its stars have crossed paths with #legend and where their characters were last seen
Lee Jinuk and Park Sunghoon

In September 2024, #legend brought Lee Jinuk and Park Sunghoon out to Singapore for an immersive experience celebrating The Macallan’s 200th anniversary at Clarke Quay Warehouse B.
Lee plays Park Gyeong-seok, also known as Player 246, who is a father desperately raising funds for his daughter's medical treatment. In the cliffhanger finale of season two, Lee's character is knocked out in the failed rebellion. A guard is seen scanning his unconscious body.

Meanwhile, Park portrays Cho Hyun-ju, also known as Player 120. A former soldier, Cho is a transwoman who is now trying to pay for gender affirming surgery and move to Thailand to find a safe space. Park's character quickly became a fan favourite for her heroics in the second season. We are on the edge of our seats waiting to see what becomes of her.

Park Gyu Young

In the second season, our #legend cover star Park Gyu Young stars as Kang No-eul, a North Korean defector who ends up as Guard 011, one of the faceless, pink-suited soldiers.
Park's character adds some shades of grey to the typical villain role, with Kang being shown to have a tragic backstory of her own that saw her being forced to abandon her newborn. A talented sniper, she is now using her skills to earn money to track down her daughter in North Korea. She was last seen responding to a call to quell the revolt organized by Seong Gi-Hun/Player 456.
“I was incredibly eager to be a part of [Squid Game 2]. I went through two rounds of auditions and approached them in the most authentic way possible,” Park told #legend. “It was refreshing to [watch the first season of Squid Game] and see traditional Korean children’s games depicted as a conflict of survival for money that even leads to death. In some ways, it felt brutal, but it was a project that made me reflect on many things as a human.”
#legend also flew out Park to Hong Kong for the Tiffany Blue Book event recently. Peep our interview with the starlet above and read more about it in our July 2025 issue.
Wi Ha Jun

Another #legend cover star, Wi Ha Jun has been with Squid Game since its first season. He plays detective Hwang Jun-ho who goes undercover in the Squid Games to find his brother, Hwang In-ho, who he believed participated in and went missing in the games. Unbeknownst to him, his brother is actually the Front Man who oversees the game. One thing is for sure, it's going to be explosive when the brothers reunite and the truth hits.
“To bring out a rough, cold and strong image, I tanned, worked out and grew out some facial hair. I also focused heavily on portraying the character through eye acting to bring out Jun Ho’s unwavering determination even under extreme circumstances,” Wi told #legend about his role.
“Since I was continuing Jun Ho’s storyline (in season two), it wasn’t drastically different but since he’d witnessed such shocking scenes and barely escaped death in season one, I had to start season two by portraying him as emotionally wrecked, isolated and traumatised. That part was new.”
Yim Siwan

Our #legend cover star Yim Siwan stars as Lee Myung Gi/Player 333, a crypto bro with a penchant for making bad decisions. His cryptocurrency crashes and leaves him in debt, along with others in the game like his pregnant girlfriend Jun-hee and rapper Thanos. During his cover shoot in Macau, Yim told us more about his Squid Game role.
“I didn’t view Lee Myung Gi as good or evil,” Yim said of his character. “I portrayed him as someone simply lacking the wisdom to make the right choices – a foolish person. From Myung Gi’s perspective, every choice he makes feels like the best one. He’s someone who repeatedly makes unwise choices and spirals downward because of them.”
Yim's character was last seen declining to join the revolt after being quietly urged not to by his girlfriend Jun-hee. So this means we will see more of him in season three for sure.
