David Ho gives you the latest dining recommendations in Hong Kong for June 2025
181 at Fortnum & Mason

Father’s Day happens this month so time to take dad out for a tipple and a meal. Luckily, Fortnum & Mason has both. Fortnum has dedicated one Wednesday evening every month as a Wellington Wednesday. This time, it’s on June 18 at their 181 restaurant in K11 Musea. The succulent Beef Wellington here (HK$588 per person) is made with the best cuts of roasted beef, wrapped in mushroom duxelles and a layer of crispy and buttery puff pastry. It comes with unlimited sides and includes a glass of Fortnum’s Saint-Émilion red wine.
That’s not all. Fortnum & Mason have teamed up with contemporary speakeasy Hope & Sesame (ranked number 14 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2024 list) as part of their Unexpected Ingredients series. The collaboration menu features five cocktails. Our pick of the lot is the 181 50/50 Sour (HK$178), an homage to Hong Kong’s yuen yeung blend of coffee and tea. It is made with Fortnum’s Scottish Ling Heather Honey Gin for the coffee aroma base and Fortnum’s Smoky Earl Grey Tea. It is then shaken with chickpea juice for a creamy foam topping.

Amber

French fine dining stalwart Amber have new lunch (HK$928+) and dinner (HK$2058+) tasting menus for the summer. We’ve always appreciate the restaurant for its dairy-free and less meat-centric menu. Now, Chef Richard Ekkebus has redefined fine dining in with more plant-based cuisine through vegetarian menus.

The new signature offerings here include an Heirloom Tomato, Strawberry, Soymilk ‘Burrata’ Rose with Lemon Verbena and Extra Virgin Olive Oil that balances on the delicate tightrope between sweetness and acidity. Another recommendation is the Purple Artichoke and Caramelized Cippolini Onion that is paired with Yunnan Morel and rare Manni ‘Per Me’ Olive Oil. Amber is proof you don’t always need meat for a great meal.

This month, LMO Freshly Baked at Mandarin Oriental, The Landmark Hong Kong continues its Tastemaker Series with an exciting new collaborative partner - Bar Leone – which was named Asia’s Best Bar 2024 and ranked No. 2 on The World’s 50 Best Bars. It may seem like a surprising team up, but Bar Leone is as renowned for its food as it is for its drinks. Bar Leone founder Lorenzo Antino brings three exclusive dishes to LMO’s bakery counter with a Spinach & Ricotta Pie (HK$78), a Roman Chicken Salad (HK$98), and a Tramezzini Tonno e Pomodoro Sandwich (HK$88) consisting of Japanese milk bread with white tuna salad and vine tomatoes. Bacha Coffee

You have probably already seen Bacha Coffee’s outlet at IFC. But now, Bacha Coffee has a new Harbour City location overlooking Victoria Harbour the spans 2,500 square-feet.
Besides their famous coffee selection, we now have a great spot with a view for every meal. A breakfast for champions is their Baked Free-Range Eggs (HK$198), nestled in a spicy tomato sauce with delicately infused Red Bison Coffee feta cheese, olives, herbs and confit forest mushrooms — an aromatic, savoury indulgence. There are plenty of options for lunch and dinner, with the Traditional Moroccan “Kefta” Meatballs (HK$268), served in a hearty gravy with crisp straw potato fries being a good savoury choice or two pieces of their kaya croissant (HK$58) if you want something light and sweet .

Izakaya Yorucho

A new modern izakaya has opened in Causeway Bay. Founded by two veterans of the Hong Kong dining scene, Kevin Lam and Arnold Tse, the 30-dish menu here is a study in layered flavours with blossoms, seasonal fruits, artisanal teas, and premium spirits weaved into every creation. The sashimi here is adorned with vibrant fruit-infused sauces, while robata items (such as beef tongue) are modernised through kiwi-based glazes.

Psst! The restaurant also has a hidden bar called Madara with beverages crafted by Rayven Leung, who has 13 years of Japanese bar experience. His cocktail creations reflects the floral, fruity, and tea elements and craftsmanship of the food here.

Pica Pica

Sheung Wan’s contemporary Spanish tapas and wine bar Pica Pica has come up with a refreshed tapas menu of delightful savoury bites for summer. We recommend getting a mix of small bites (like the Sobrasada Bikini (HK$80), a thin-pressed sandwich with a rich chorizo and cheese spread), sharing plates (go for the signature Spanish delicacy of “Lazy” omelette (HK$75), a classic open-face omelette topped with fresh broccolini, piquillo peppers, and baby asparagus) and of course, hearty mains (like the lamb neck (HK$235) with caramelised piquillo peppers, and charred spring onions).
The restaurant’s name is derived from the Spanish expression “a little bit of this, a little bit of that”, which encapsulates the best way to enjoy the food here.
