Bar Leone tops Asia's 50 Best Bars again

Jul 16, 2025

For the second year in a row, Bar Leone in Hong Kong has topped the Asia's 50 Best Bars list. David Ho looks at who else made the list

Owned and operated by Lorenzo Antinori, Bar Leone clinched the coveted titles of 'The Best Bar in Asia' and 'The Best Bar in Hong Kong' at the Asia's 50 Best Bars awards ceremony in Macau. The Sheung Wan-based bar continues its stronghold on the top position for a second consecutive year, after it made a surprise debut at number one for Asia's 50 Best Bars in 2024.

On a global scale, Bar Leone also charted at No.2 on The World’s 50 Best Bars list last year. Not a bad showing for a new kid on the block, though Antinori already has the pedigree with previous stints include the acclaimed Argo and now defunct Dandelyan (The World’s Best Bar 2018).

At last night's ceremony, Zest in Seoul retained its second position on the regional list and kept 'The Best Bar in Korea' title. Jigger & Pony in Singapore came for the third spot, making it 'The Best Bar in Singapore' for the sixth consecutive year.

Bar Us in Bangkok climbed an impressive 17 places to No.4, which helped it take the title of 'The Best Bar in Thailand'. Another Bangkok entry is newcomer Dry Wave Cocktail Studio, which debuts at impressive No.5 while clinching the 'Disaronno Highest New Entry Award'.

A total of six bars in Hong Kong made the list, which made it the leading hotspot in the region. The other five are: Argo (No.11), Coa (No.17), Penicillin (No.27), The Savory Project (No.32), and newcomer Gokan (No.33).

The founder of Coa Hong Kong, Jay Khan, has been named Roku Industry Icon. The agave spirits advocate is also the man behind The Savory Project and Coa Shanghai. A former Altos Bartenders’ Bartender awardee in 2020, Khan also founded the non-profit Mezcal Mission, which runs educational workshops on tequila and mezcal while supporting local charities.
