Somm

Sommelier-led restaurant Somm at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, has introduced the SommAllSet, a three- or four-course dinner experience with two glasses of wine pairings. With a seasonal menu rooted in French traditions, dish highlights include the Bellota Ham Paleta, Salad of Roasted Jerusalem Artichoke, Toasted Hazelnut, Preserved Black Winter Truffle Coulis & Mustard Leaves, the tender Yellow Chicken with Green Asparagus, Grenaille Ratte Potato, Tarragon Sabayon, Pickled Onion & Chicken Jus, and the aromatic Toothfish with Nora & Parsley Breadcrumbs & Bell Pepper & Onion Piperade.

The SommAllSet is available from Monday to Sunday between 5 PM and 9:30 PM, priced at HK$758 and HK$918 respectively for three-course and four-course with wine pairing included. Honjo

Honjo’s executive chef Sandro Medrano Montero is serving up an intimate omakase experience that is available exclusively on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Priced at HK$980 per guest, with an optional wine pairing for HK$398, the meticulously designed menu features five appetisers, two sushi selections, five main courses, and a delightful dessert.

We are told the dishes reflect Montero’s own journey from Peru across the world to Hong Kong. Highlights here include Aburi —an exquisite bite of Wagyu beef cooked on a hot stone and served atop fragrant truffle sushi rice – and Honjo’s take on Abalone - featuring the treasured delicacy sliced fresh, served with barley and silky tofu puree.

Oh, and fans of Pirata Group are in for a treat on May 15. Honjo’s Montero will team up with Pici’s chef Sebastiano Ricciardetto for a four hands dinner experience for just HK$588 per person. The duo will bring cultures together as they whip up dishes such as nigiri infused with vibrant pesto Genovese, perfectly paired with zesty yuzu kosho dressing on succulent Wagyu beef. There is also a prawn-filled ravioli nestled in fragrant katsuobushi broth, as well as a creamy uni melting over al dente tagliolini. Finally, there is a Japanese-inspired tagliata of Wagyu ribeye harmonising with shiitake teriyaki and rich Italian balsamic reduction. Click here to book a seat for this dining experience at Honjo.

Jean-Pierre

Jean-Pierre is the new French boy on the Bridges Street block. A Black Sheep project, it aims to bring the bistros of France's golden age to Hong Kong shores and is named after co-founder Marc Hofmann’s father. It is helmed by rising star Chef John Troupis, under the mentorship of Executive Head Chef Matthew Kirkley, who have shared time at Michelin-starred Belon and Magistracy Dining Room.

The bistro cuisine makes for a show as the Crêpes Suzette (HK$228) are flambéed tableside and Sole Meunière (HK$658) is served with flair. Poulet de Simone (HK$888), an ode to the classic poulet roti, is reimagined with Hong Kong's exceptional three yellow chicken, prepared the classic way with a luscious stuffing of mushrooms, tarragon and spinach. In a nod to Paris’ Le Voltaire, Oeufs Mimosa (HK$8), the bistro dish that outlived the Franc, is served one half-egg at a time for HK$8 — or €1 — for all guests, forever.

It’s not just full dining here as the bar is just as prominent a feature. Besides cocktails, the bar menu includes the signature JP Burger (HK$208), serving only ten per day, or crispy Pierre Koffmann Frites (HK$68) and a classic Croque Monsieur (HK$268) (or Madame, with addition of an egg).
