Jill Chen's watch collection

Feb 20, 2025

Born and raised in Taiwan, Jill Chen began her career at luxury watch auction house Antiquorum before joining Phillips as the first employee in its Hong Kong office and then Christie’s Asia Pacific as vice president and deputy head of watches. A pivotal player in the Asian watch auction market, she takes us through her standout pieces from the Christie’s Geneva Rare Watches sale

Patek Philippe Ref. 3424

The Rhomboid 3 designed by the legendary Gilbert Albert is absolutely one of the dream watches on my wish list. It was introduced at the 1959 Basel Fair and Geneva Montres et Bijoux exhibition and production was discontinued in the 1960s. Due to its unique asymmetric design and contemporary art aesthetic, the model is one of the most interesting vintage Patek Philippe wristwatches and it continues to receive considerable appreciation from collectors today.

Cartier Jumbo Bamboo

The very name Cartier is already the ultimate in luxury. From the dawn of the 20th century, the company’s timepieces have won the hearts of VIPs and the most discerning clientele worldwide, not only for their mechanical excellence and ingenuity but, most importantly, for the perfection and confidence of their design. In the 1970s, Cartier aimed to create exotic and creative timepieces, and many models remain iconic signatures in the market. Almost impossible to obtain today, the Cartier Bamboo is recognised as one of the most remarkable vintage Cartier wristwatch designs.

F.P.Journe Tourbillon Souverain Vertical Black Label

F.P.Journe has always been a highly sought-after brand in the market, and the Black Label series, available only to VIPs, is in great demand. Journe’s unique design is instantly recognisable, and its unlimited creativity and innovation are bringing the brand from niche independent watchmaking to a wider audience. An iconic tourbillon with a Black Label dial is a must-have piece for Journe collectors.

Rolex Daytona Rainbow Rose Gold Ref. 116595RBOW

The Daytona Rainbow is the most significant and appealing of Rolex’s gem-set creations. The model was launched to widespread acclaim and is highly appreciated by collectors for its complete shake-up of tradition and the superb quality of the gem-set bezel with its painstakingly selected colour-matched stones. Rolex’s meticulous standards of stone matching and finishing mean that only a handful are made each year, and demand vastly exceeds supply. Consequently, the Daytona Rainbow is not very easy to order. A rainbow on the wrist is incredibly beautiful and leaves wearers feeling impressed.

Andersen Geneve & Benjamin Chee Celestial Voyager – Pièce Unique ELA

This is an absolutely stunning unique piece donated by Andersen Geneve and Benjamin Chee Haute Horlogerie to support the charity ELA. The Celestial Voyager – Pièce Unique ELA combines a platinum case and aventurine city ring with a unique map of the world in cloisonné enamel to create an object of pure elegance and harmony. It is a watch that showcases both the minimalist elegance and high craftsmanship of the Celestial Voyager in the most luxurious and alluring way.

Breguet Unique Platinum Pocket Watch

Made in 2004 after three years of research and development, this extraordinary and meticulously constructed replica of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s original self-winding Perpetuelle No. 5 from 1794 was produced as a unique piece cased in platinum. A true masterpiece inspired by the father of tourbillon escapements, it is a priceless treasure in watchmaking.
