"...Following its phenomenal success in Paris, London, Shanghai, Chengdu, New York, Doha, Tokyo, and Riyadh, the world-renowned exhibition Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams is making its next stop in Seoul, South Korea. The exhibition will be held at the iconic Dongdaemun Design Plaza from 19 April to 13 July 2025..."
Curated by Florence Müller, the exhibition celebrates over 75 years of Dior’s boundless creativity through a vividly immersive narrative designed by Shohei Shigematsu of the internationally acclaimed architecture firm OMA.
The journey begins at the heart of 30 Montaigne, where archival photographs unveil the magic of Dior’s “kingdom of dreams”—the birthplace of the House’s Haute Couture collections. At the forefront is none other than the revolutionary New Look, Dior’s eternal icon, showcased in striking fashion. The architectural structure inspired by the curve of the Bar Suit’s skirt highlights the evolution and reinterpretations of this timeless silhouette.
Christian Dior’s deep affection for flowers and gardens is brought to life through two poetic installations. The first is dedicated to Miss Dior, revealing various facets of the legendary perfume through never-before-seen archival materials and textile artworks by Eva Jospin. The second installation, set within a large moon-shaped terracotta structure, features floral constellations crafted by artist HyunJoo Kim.
The tale of J’adore, another iconic Dior fragrance, is told through art by Jean-Michel Othoniel, a unique perfume bottle designed by Victoire de Castellane and India Mahdavi, and an exquisite gold-embroidered dress famously worn by brand ambassador Rihanna.
Spanning from 1947 to the present, the creative visions of Dior’s Artistic Directors are presented in a space inspired by Jogakbo—traditional Korean patchwork. The exhibition follows the graceful motion of a stitched ribbon, showcasing an evolving dialogue between Dior’s successors, culminating in a portrait gallery of designers by multidisciplinary artist Zadie Xa.
A white canvas room pays homage to the Maison’s craftsmanship, highlighting the unparalleled excellence of its artisans. At the exhibition’s close, the timeless elegance of Lady Dior is unveiled anew through exclusive reinterpretations by nine Korean artists for the Dior Lady Art project and 17 creatives for Lady Dior As Seen By.
Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams in Seoul is a rare opportunity to delve into more than 75 years of fashion history from one of the world’s most celebrated luxury houses—an unmissable experience for admirers of fashion, heritage, and timeless beauty.
