"...Loro Piana has officially announced the winners of the Knit Design Award 2025 at Casa degli Artisti in Milan. This year’s prestigious award was presented to Morgan Boyce and Simone Rizzato, two talented students from Italy’s Accademia Costume e Moda, for their standout creation titled ‘Paracadute’..."
This year’s competition embraced the theme “Winter Legacy – Weaving Linen into Fashion Heritage”, with a focus on reinterpreting linen, a naturally derived material, by combining it with Loro Piana’s signature winter yarns. The objective: to craft innovative, multidimensional knitwear pieces that merge traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design.
Participants were challenged to create designs that reflect the fusion of age-old techniques and modern innovation, transforming linen into versatile garments suitable for every season, while retaining the refined elegance synonymous with Loro Piana.
The winners will receive a specially designed trophy, a scholarship, and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work directly with Loro Piana. Furthermore, they will develop their designs in collaboration with the brand’s master artisans at its historic workshop in Piedmont, before presenting the final pieces at Pitti Filati 2025 in Florence, one of the world’s leading yarn and knitwear trade fairs.
The judging panel for the 9th edition was led by Damien Bertrand, Chairman of the Board at Loro Piana, and featured an esteemed panel of international fashion experts, including Gilles Denis; Executive Editor at Le Point Pauline Dujancourt; Designer and Founder of the eponymous brand, Anna Dello Russo; Renowned stylist and former Editor of Vogue Japan, Satoshi Kuwata; Founder of SETCHU, Antonio Mancinelli; Fashion writer and critic, and Kimberly Drew; Curator and Creative Strategist
Since its inception in 2016, the Loro Piana Knit Design Award has become a prestigious platform for students from top design institutions worldwide. The programme encourages young talents to express their creativity using Loro Piana’s iconic yarns, supporting their professional development and helping shape the future of fashion.
