"...Loro Piana, the esteemed Italian luxury fashion house, unveils its Fall/Winter 2025–26 collection with the introduction of Royal Lightness, a groundbreaking textile innovation that embodies ultimate lightness, refined delicacy, and unparalleled luxury. This exquisite new fibre is a seamless fusion of Mulberry silk and fine Merino wool sourced from Australia and New Zealand, developed with meticulous care over two years at Loro Piana’s state-of-the-art facilities in Roccapietra and Quarona, Italy..."
Royal Lightness stands out for its astonishing fineness of just 13.5 microns, representing a mere 0.05% of the world’s annual Merino wool production. This rarity demands exceptional expertise in carding, spinning, and weaving to create a yarn that is ultra-light, sublimely soft, and radiantly lustrous, crafted using 21-denier Mulberry silk, globally recognised as the finest silk.
The fabric’s production process is rich in detail. It involves blending silk with long-fibre 15-micron cashmere and weaving it with masterful skill found only in select Italian mills. The result is a dual-faced textile weighing just 350 grams per square metre, offering the sheer elegance of organzino sheen and an inimitable softness.
Once the fabric achieves its perfect form, each garment is layered, bordered, and finished using Fell Stitching, an ancient handcrafting technique executed entirely by hand with needle and thread. The outcome is a garment that is flawless both inside and out, showcasing Loro Piana’s signature attention to detail.
Loro Piana continues to embody the pinnacle of Italian excellence and luxury. The Fall/Winter 2025–26 collection is a testament to the brand’s unwavering commitment to refinement, craftsmanship, and innovation for those who truly appreciate the art of fine textiles.
