In Ulaanbaatar stands its only production facility outside Italy, a place where fibres are refined with precision, and where enduring bonds with local cooperatives continue to flourish. It is here that ancestral knowledge is honoured, passed down through generations who understand the language of the land and the wool it yields.

Resilient Threads was not conceived merely to preserve raw materials, but to embrace the ecosystem in its entirety. From reviving fragile pastures in Mongolia’s Sukhbaatar province, to equipping nomadic herders who brave the unforgiving winter phenomenon known as dzud, a climatic crisis that can strip families of both livestock and livelihood, the initiative reaches deep into the roots of resilience.

The project is a tapestry of global collaboration, interwoven with partners such as UNCCD, SFA, and OCT, all united under the guiding philosophy of “One Health,” a harmonious vision that sees human, animal, and environmental well-being as intrinsically linked. In 2025, Loro Piana will unveil Mongolia’s first mobile One Health centre, delivering care, vaccines, and knowledge to remote communities, honouring both local traditions and modern public health.
