"...To commemorate Pride Month in a truly meaningful way, the ever-creative The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon has transformed its beloved spaces, The Parlor and Tease into vibrant hubs of diversity and self-expression through the imaginative campaign House of Pride. This initiative blends contemporary art with the dynamic pulse of the city, creating an experience that is as uplifting as it is reflective..."
At the heart of the exhibition is none other than Trey Hurst, an American artist currently residing in Bangkok, who collaborates with the refined Thai design and leather brand Archives Design. Together, they present a stunning body of work entitled “Serenity”, exploring the deeper meaning of the colour blue, a symbolic hue on the Pride flag representing peace, calm, and healing in an urban context.
Among the highlights is Spectre 13, a large-scale abstract painting in layered shades of deep blue, cobalt, and ultramarine, conveying a serene yet powerful emotional presence. This two-dimensional work is further expanded into the three-dimensional realm through Serenity Sculptures – modern pieces created with leather and wood in elegant, flowing forms that speak to both tranquillity and contemporary sophistication, crafted in partnership with Archives Design.
Another unmissable feature of the celebration is the specially curated Afternoon Tea “Sips of Serenity”, available at Tease. Conceived by The Standard’s culinary team, the menu translates Hurst’s artistic narrative into flavours and forms. It features both savoury and sweet creations, including Tomato Tartlet with ricotta and pistachio salsa verde, Chicken Caviar Croissant with quail egg and parsley, Soft Shell Roll with tiger prawn, crab, brioche, ikuraSweet, as well as sweet treats such as the Serenity Sculpture and Blue Hawaii Bonbon, all presented as part of an exquisite set priced at THB 999++, available exclusively until 31 July 2025.
For those seeking a hands-on creative experience, a Mark-Making Workshop with Trey Hurst will take place on 14 June from 14:00 to 16:00, welcoming participants of all levels. Attendees will experiment with foam brushes, Hurst’s tool of choice, and receive a personalised sketchbook and Afternoon Tea set, all for THB 1,150++.
The exhibition officially launches on 5 June from 19:00 to 21:00 at The Parlor, where guests can meet the artist in person, join a dialogue about his inspirations, and enjoy an electric atmosphere accompanied by a guest DJ.
